APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University men’s basketball standout Troy Miller has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Miller (Lake In The Hills, Ill./Huntley) earned the honor after a stellar shooting day in Lawrence’s 66-49 season-opening win over Dominican (Ill.) University this past Saturday. Miller, a junior guard who had never scored more than eight points in a game, scored a career-high 21 points by hitting 7-of-11 shots from 3-point range against the Stars.

Miller, who also picked up three rebounds, two assists and two steals with zero turnovers in 35 minutes, hit five 3-pointers in a row in the second half as Lawrence pulled away for the victory. The seven 3-pointers in a game ties for the third-highest total in Lawrence history.

It was the first Player of the Week award for Miller, who was making his first career start.

Lawrence returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Wisconsin Lutheran College for a nonconference game.
