Lake Forest starts fast, pulls away from Vikings

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team scored the game’s first 16 points on Tuesday and never looked back en route to a 77-43 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.

Michelle Ricolcol scored 20 points to pace Lake Forest (8-9, 8-5 MWC), and Danielle Canulli added 16 points for the Foresters. Fifteen of Lake Forest’s 16 players scored in the game.

Danelle Buck led Lawrence (0-16, 0-12) with 14 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Nicole Cummins came off the bench to score a career-high 11 points for the Vikings.

Lake Forest hit five of its first six shots from the floor to help build a 16-0 edge. The Vikings trimmed the margin to 18-7, but Lake Forest stretched the lead all the way to 37-15 at the half. Lake Forest would go on to lead by as many as 38 points in the second half.

The Foresters shot 49.1 percent for the game and lived at the foul line. Lake Forest went 20-for-32 at the charity stripe during the game. Lawrence shot just six free throws in the game.
