WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University women’s basketball team pulled away midway through the first half and went on to a 68-38 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Wednesday at Van Male Fieldhouse.
Breann Maryanski led Carroll (15-7, 12-5 MWC) with 13 points and six rebounds. Julia Piech added 11 points for the Pioneers.
Elizabeth Arco paced Lawrence (1-21, 0-17) with 12 points and three blocks, and Danelle Buck and Katie Schumacher chipped in with six points apiece.
Carroll led 10-6 after Lawrence’s Olivia Hoesley scored on a layup with 13:17 left in the first half. Lawrence went 2-for-10 from the floor and turned the ball over 11 times in the remainder of the first half.
Carroll shot 59.3 percent (16-27) from the floor in the first half and raced out to a 40-10 lead at the break. Lawrence went 5-for-18 (27.8 percent) from the floor in the first half.
The Vikings were much better after the break, hitting 13-of-30 shots from the floor as they matched Carroll’s 28 second-half points.
