APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Midwest Conference victory over rival Ripon College on Wednesday at the Lawrence Courts.
Lawrence started the day by taking both of the doubles matches that were contested. Ripon had just five players so Lawrence won by default at No. 3 singles.
The Vikings then swept the singles matches, and David Jumes had the toughest test at No. 1. Jumes dropped the first set 7-5 to Eric Seiler, but Jumes took the second set 6-2 to force a supertiebreaker. Jumes took that 10-7 to win the match.
Adam Busch had the easiest route to victory at No. 4 singles where he posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Anders Goodwin. The other shutout was at No. 2 doubles where Ethan Perushek and Ben Tomhave won 8-0.
Lawrence (10-9, 4-1 MWC) made it eight straight wins over Ripon (2-14, 1-4) dating back to the 2008 season.
