Bruning wins 3,000 to pace Vikings in season opener

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Senior Clare Bruning won the 3,000 meters on Friday to pace the Lawrence University track teams as the Vikings opened the indoor season at the UW-Oshkosh Triangular.

Bruning led a Lawrence sweep of the top seven place as she took first in the 3,000 on the Kolf Sports Center track in 11:24.32. Erin Schrobilgen was second for the Vikings in 11:29.02 and Hannah Kinzer was third in 11:40.63.

The Lawrence women also took first in the 4×400 relay in 4:43.22. Other top finishers on the women’s side included Sage Greenlee, who grabbed second in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 3 inches, and Sierra Polzin, who was third in the 800 in 2:31.68.

On the men’s side, the top finishers were the 4×400 relay team, which took second in 3:43.46.

Max Edwards raced to third in the mile with a time of 4:31.88, and Cam Davies was fourth in 4:33.67. Josh Janusiak grabbed fourth in the 3,000 in 9:06.88.

UW-Oshkosh won on the women’s side with 142 points, Ripon was next with 43 and Lawrence had 42. On the men’s side, the Titans finished first with 143, Ripon had 80 and Lawrence had 40.
