APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University standout Hayley Cardinal has been chosen as the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Cardinal (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) earned the honor after winning a pair of events and grabbing a pair of seconds at the Lawrence Double Dual on Jan. 23.
Cardinal won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.82 and grabbed first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.36 at Boldt Natatorium. Cardinal also took second in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.83. Cardinal teamed with Paige Witter, Emily Flack and Lizzy Garcia to take second in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.06.
Lawrence defeated Lake Forest College 146-117 and fell 183-78 to UW-Whitewater.
This is Cardinal’s fourth conference Swimmer of the Week honor of the season. She took the honor on Dec. 15 and also won the award in back-to-back weeks in late October and early November.
The Lawrence swimmers return to action this Saturday when the Vikings travel to the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Carthage College.
