Ripon pulls away from Vikings in second half

APPLETON, Wis. — The Ripon College women’s basketball team pulled away in the second half Wednesday and posted a 54-39 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.

Jonalee Elliott scored 10 points, and Maggie Oimoen added nine to pace the Red Hawks (10-6, 6-5 MWC).

Aubrey Scott scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds, picked up three assists and added three steals to lead Lawrence (0-15, 0-10). Andrea Wilkinson added 11 points, and Liz Arco came off the bench and chipped in with eight points.

Lawrence trailed by as many as 11 points in the second quarter but went on a 9-2 run over the final 3:00 of the first half to trim the margin to 22-18 at the break. Arco scored six points in that stretch and Scott added a three-point play.

Ripon opened the second half by outscoring Lawrence 11-5 over the first 7:29 of the third quarter to stretch the lead to 33-23. The Vikings trailed by nine after three periods and couldn’t get any closer in the fourth quarter.
