MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Clare Bruning and Erin Schrobilgen both won races on Saturday to pace the Lawrence University track team at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational.
Bruning won the 5,000 meters in 19:41.48, taking the title in the event by a minute. Lawrence’s Liz Landes was third in the event, and Molly Doruska took sixth.
Schrobilgen took the top spot in the mile as she raced to victory in 5:28.91. She edged Michigan Tech’s Robyn Holmes by just under three seconds. Lawrence’s Cora Williams, Margaret Huck and Hannah Kinzer finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Other top finishers for the women were Janey Degnan, who took fourth in the pole vault at 2.13 meters, and the relay teams (4×400, third, 4:32.82; 4×100, fourth, 58.28 seconds).
The women finished fifth in the team standings with 62 points. The Lawrence men were seventh with 50 points.
Dan Sandacz placed in a pair of events for the Vikings. He grabbed second in the 400 hurdles in 59.16 and took sixth in the 110 hurdles in 16.56 seconds.
Cam Davies grabbed second in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:46.49, as Austin Wright of MSOE edged him by .36 seconds for the title.
Ben Schaefer grabbed third in the 5,000 in 16:41.02, and Jordan Atkins was fourth in 16:56.22. Josh Janusiak came in sixth in the mile in 4:35.06, and Ethan Gniot was sixth in the 400 in 53.11 seconds.
The 4×100 relay team was third in 47.21 seconds, and the 4×400 squad was fourth in 3:40.77.
