APPLETON, Wis. — The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team swept the doubles competition Sunday and then hung on to post a 5-4 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at the Lawrence Courts.
The Foresters (5-3, 3-3 MWC) led 3-0 after the doubles competition before seeing Lawrence (4-3, 3-2) battle back during singles play.
Lawrence got wins from Katie Frankel at No. 1 and El Goblirsch at No. 6 in straight sets. Lindsay Holsen at No. 2 and Alexis Shannon at No. 5 both won supertiebreakers for the Vikings. Lake Forest got straight-sets victories at Nos. 3 and 4 to secure the victory.
