WHITEWATER, Wis. — Sam Stevens ran to a third-place finish and Emily Muhs grabbed fifth place to lead the Lawrence University cross country teams on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational.
Stevens led the Lawrence men to third place in the team standings with 78 points. UW-Platteville won the title with 28. Muhs’ effort helped Lawrence place fifth with 114 points. UW-Platteville took the title with 31 points.
Stevens covered the 8,000-meter course in 26:53, and Whitewater’s Mathias Werve grabbed first in 26:37. Kyle Dockery (15th), Curran Carlile (17th), Sam Estrem (21st) and Jamie Brisbois (22nd) rounded out the scoring for Lawrence.
Muhs finished the 6,000-meter course in 24:39 for the Vikings, and Ann Tank of Platteville was the winner in 23:57. Maggie Mahaffa (21st), Anna Ratliff (23rd), Cathy Kaye (32nd) and Amanda Dwyer (33rd) completed the scoring for Lawrence.
