Lawrence University freshman Taylor Winter has been named the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week.
Winter (Bayside, Wis./Nicolet) picked up the honor after winning multiple events in Lawrence’s first three dual meets of the season.
In her collegiate debut against Beloit on Oct. 29, Winter won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:30.17, won the mixed 1,000 freestyle in 11:12.96 and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay team. The Vikings won the meet 114-71.
In a dual meet with UW-River Falls on Nov. 4 that ended in a tie, Winter won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.47, took first in the 500 freestyle in 5:24.98, won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:03.19 and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team.
In a loss at UW-Whitewater on Nov. 12, Winter won the 500 freestyle in 5:24.87 and took first in the 1,650 freestyle in 18:38.31.
Winter holds the top time in the Midwest Conference in the 1,650 freestyle and is second in both the 1,000 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Ripon and Marquette in a triangular at Boldt Natatorium.
