FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The seventh-ranked St. Norbert College hockey team scored the game’s first three goals on Friday and went on to a 5-1 nonconference win over Lawrence University at the MCHA/NCHA Thanksgiving Showdown at the Blue Line Ice Center.
The Green Knights (6-2-2) led 2-0 after the first period on a power-play goal from Seth Soley and an even-strength goal from Alain Joanette. St. Norbert made it 3-0 when Johan Ryd scored 9:41 into the second period.
Lawrence got on the board when Brad Scurfield took a pass from Phil Bushbacher and scored at the 10:35 mark of the second. That trimmed the lead to 3-1, but that’s as close as the Vikings would get.
Joanette scored at the 15:46 mark to push the lead back to 4-1, and St. Norbert added another tally in the third period.
David Jacobson made 30 saves to pick up the win. Peter Emery made 34 saves and took his first loss of the season.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it takes on St. Scholastica in the MCHA/NCHA Showdown.
