Big second half leads Southeastern past Lawrence

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Southeastern University women’s basketball team enjoyed a hot second half shooting the ball and went on to a 73-57 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Wednesday night.

Southeastern (2-6) went 21-for-33 from the floor (63.6 percent) in the second half to pull away from Lawrence (0-6).

Ciara Carter scored 14 points to lead four Southeastern players in double figures.

Amber Lisowe scored 20 points to pace the Vikings, and Cathy Kaye added 14 points. Chioma Ejimkonye chipped in with nine points for the Vikings, and Presley Neuman grabbed a game-high six rebounds.

Lawrence played a tight first half with the Fire, and Southeastern led only 26-25 at the break. Southeastern’s hot shooting allowed it to build a 51-37 lead, but Lawrence went on a 7-2 run to trim the advantage to 53-44 with 7:10 left.

The Fire then went on a 14-4 run to extend its lead to 19 points at 67-48 and seal the victory.

Lawrence returns to action at home on Dec. 13 when it hosts Knox College in a Midwest Conference game.
