WINONA, Minn. — Cameron Pieper scored in the first half on Sunday, and that was enough to lift the Lawrence University men’s soccer team to a 1-0 nonconference victory over St. Mary’s (Minn.) University at the Cardinal Classic.
It also was the first shutout for first-year goalkeeper Kevin Aslett, who stopped three shots for the Vikings (2-3-0).
Pieper took a pass from Joe Cullen and beat St. Mary’s goalkeeper Christian Van Dam at the 29:12 mark. It was the first goal of the season for Pieper.
St. Mary’s had a 17-11 edge in shots, but Lawrence held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
