The Lawrence University women’s tennis team rallied for a 5-4 nonconference victory over UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday at the Lawrence Courts.
After winning only one of the doubles matches, the Vikings (5-2) won the Nos. 3-6 singles matches to down the Pointers (1-4).
Gayatri Malhotra and Polly Dalton were 8-5 winners at No. 3 doubles, and both players also won in singles. Malhotra beat Katelyn Presti 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, and Dalton topped Ali Bichler 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6. Lawrence’s Hannah Geoffrey beat Monica Preisig 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and Ali Heiring was a 6-0, 6-3 winner for the Vikings over Allison Fortier at No. 5.
Lawrence, which has won four straight, opens Midwest Conference North Division play on Saturday when it travels to Beloit College.
