APPLETON, Wis. — The St. Norbert College hockey team broke the game open with two second-period goals Friday and went on to a 4-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over Lawrence University at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
The second-ranked Green Knights (10-1-0, 7-0-0 NCHA) broke a scoreless tie with Brandon Hoogenboom’s goal just 2:33 into the second period. St. Norbert pushed the lead to 2-0 when Marian Fiala scored at the 14:08 mark.
Cullen Bradshaw’s power-play goal just 1:27 into the third period gave the Green Knights a 3-0 edge and helped seal the victory. Pijus Rulevisius capped the scoring at the 16:21 mark of the third for St. Norbert.
David Jacobson stopped 15 shots to pick up the shutout for St. Norbert. Anton Olsson made 38 saves for Lawrence (2-6-1, 2-5-0).
St. Norbert went 1-for-6 on the power play, and the Vikings finished 0-for-4.
The teams wrap up the home-and-home series Saturday night at the Cornerstone Community Center.
