LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Bobby Barrett scored 53 seconds into overtime to lift Lake Forest College to a 3-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Lawrence University on Saturday.
Barrett’s goal came off assists from Mcauley Banning and Mike Violette and capped a sweep of the weekend series for the Foresters (12-8-1, 9-5-0 NCHA).
Lawrence (5-15-1, 4-10-0) had built a 2-1 lead in the second period, but the Vikings couldn’t hang on. Senior forward Huck Saunders scored both goals for the Vikings.
Saunders scored just 28 seconds into the game to give Lawrence a 1-0 advantage. Banning tied it for Lake Forest midway through the first period, but Saunders gave Lawrence a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal with 4:29 left in the second period.
Banning then scored 4:09 into the third period to tie it at 2-2.
Leo Podolsky made 20 saves to get the win for Lake Forest. Mattias Soderqvist stopped 39 shots and took the loss for Lawrence.
