APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University cross country teams have been named Scholar Teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for 2013.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that both Lawrence’s men’s and women’s teams have been honored. To receive the award, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.1.
The Lawrence women posted a 3.40 grade point average, and Vikings were one of five teams from the Midwest Conference to win the award. The Lawrence men were at 3.30 and were one of four teams from the league to capture the award.
Lawrence, under the direction of head coach Jason Fast, had another outstanding season. The men’s team, led by all-conference runners, Jamie Brisbois, Kyle Dockery and Jonah Laursen finished second in the conference. The Lawrence women moved up five places in the conference’s team standings to finish third and had four all-conference runners, Clare Bruning, Amy Hutchings, Cora Williams and Liz Landes.
