DE PERE, Wis. — The St. Norbert College baseball team swept a pair of Midwest Conference games from Lawrence University on Saturday at Van Alstine Field.
St. Norbert won the opener 12-1 in seven innings and took the second game 11-2.
The Green Knights led 3-1 when they scored nine times in the sixth inning to break open the first game. Jason Malkowski and Griffin Jack both had two hits in the opener for St. Norbert (11-9, 7-3 MWC), who had only eight hits but took advantage of four walks and four hit batsmen.
Jake McMahon allowed five hits over seven innings to get the win. Dan Rothbauer started and took the loss for Lawrence (7-15, 1-5).
Matt Holliday went 2-for-3 for the Vikings in the opener.
In the nightcap, St. Norbert broke open a tight game in the with three runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Green Knights added five more runs, including three unearned, to lead 10-1 after four innings.
Tyler Brown was one of four St. Norbert players with two hits in the nightcap, and Brown also drove in a pair of runs.
Blake Rutherford allowed eight hits and two runs over seven innings to get the win. Kyle Duex allowed 10 runs for the Vikings and took the loss.
Carl Olsen went 3-for-4 and drove in a run to pace Lawrence, and Holliday was 2-for-4. Brandon Klar belted a solo homer in the third for the Vikings.
