MEQUON, Wis. — Josh Janusiak raced to second place Saturday and Joe Kortenhof grabbed fifth to lead the Lawrence University men’s cross country team to fourth place at the Ken Weidt Classic.
Running on the 8,000-meter course at Concordia University Wisconsin, Janusiak posted a time of 26:33.4, just nine seconds behind Cole Oslin of Concordia St. Paul. Kortenhof raced to fifth place with a time of 27:13.1.
Ben Schaefer took 18th (28:08.5), Ethan Gniot was 24th (28:17.7) and Alec Timpe was 28th (28:32.6) to complete the scoring for Lawrence. The Vikings were fourth with 77 points, and Concordia St. Paul took the title with 39.
On the women’s side, Erin Schrobilgen and Hannah Kinzer led the Vikings to a third-place finish. Schrobilgen covered the 6,000-meter course in 24:18.1 to grab fifth place, and Nora Imperl of Concordia Wisconsin was first in 23:13.3. Kinzer grabbed 10th place in 24:57.4.
The Vikings bunched their final three scorers as Margaret Huck took 19th (25:25.8), Christina Sedall was 22nd (25:38.8) and Amy Hutchings grabbed 23rd (25:49.9). Lawrence was third with 79 points, and Concordia Wisconsin claimed first with 35.
