WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University volleyball team took the first two sets and went on to a 3-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Thursday at Van Male Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers won 25-20, 25-13, 21-25, 25-20.
Carroll led 17-16 in the opening set before winning five consecutive points to take control. In the second set, Lawrence (4-10) had just two kills as Carroll built a 20-11 lead.
The Vikings bounced back in the third set and pulled away late. Lawrence broke a 19-19 tie by winning four consecutive points, including a service ace from Bryttany Dove.
Carroll led by six midway through the fourth set before the Vikings battled back. Lawrence cut the lead to 23-20 on a kill by Sydney Nelson before Carroll closed out the match.
Rachael Wuensch led Lawrence with eight kills, and Arianna Neumeyer added six kills and 15 digs. Nelson paced the Vikings with 16 assists, and Lauren Ray had 11. Cyra Bammer posted a team-best 19 digs for the Vikings.
