Bolgrien, Stevens take titles at St. Norbert Invitational

DE PERE, Wis. — Anna Bolgrien and Sam Stevens both won individual titles on Saturday at the St. Norbert College Invitational at Schneider Stadium.

Bolgrien grabbed first in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.98 and teammate Hayley Cardinal was sixth in 1:12.37.

Stevens raced to victory in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:29.99.

Both Lawrence teams placed sixth in the teams standings with identical 53-point totals.

Other top finishers for the Lawrence women were Rose Tepper, who took second in the high jump (1.60 meters), Genna Matt, who was third in the hammer throw (35.74 meters) and the 1,600 relay team, which placed third in 4:14.29.

Kyle Dockery grabbed a third place for the Lawrence men in the 5,000 in 15:56.34, and Spencer Swick was fourth in both the shot put (13.35 meters) and discus (41.44 meters).

Lawrence picks up trio of wins at Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Lawrence University track team took home three first-place finishes on Saturday at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational.

Anna Bolgrien won the 400-meter hurdles, Katherine Dannecker won the 5,000 meters and Sam Stevens won the men’s 5,000 meters.

Bolgrien ran to first place in 1:08.53 and freshman teammate Hayley Cardinal wsa fourth in 1:13.44. Dannecker ran to her victory in the 5K in 20:01.60.

Stevens and teammate Jamie Brisbois swept the top two places in the men’s 5K. Stevens was first in 15:14.00, and Brisbois was second in 15:51.49.

Lawrence also posted a trio of second-place finishes. Rose Tepper took second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 3 inches. The women’s 800 sprint medley relay team of Sam Luebke, Liza Girsova, Kassidy Rinehart and Katie Barie was second in 2:01.21. The men’s 800 sprint medley team of JP Ranumas, Bjorn Gowdy-Jaehnig, Matt Geleske and Ben Bard grabbed second in 1:41.41.

The Lawrence mwne were fifth in the team standings with 73 points, and the men were sixth with 45 points.

Stevens, Tepper pace Vikings at UW-Oshkosh Open

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Sam Stevens and Rose Tepper paced the Lawrence University track teams on Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Open at Titan Stadium.

Stevens took third place in the 1,500 meters in 4:05.94 and placed seventh in the 800 in 2:06.00. Tyler Herman grabbed third in the 400 in 52.47 seconds and ran with Ben Bard, Mike Mangian and Matt Geleske on the 1,600 relay team, which placed third in 3:38.20.

The Lawrence men were fourth in the team standings with 25 points.

On the women’s side, Tepper placed second in the high jump at 5 feet, 1 inch. Tepper also ran with Liza Girsova, Anna Bolgrien and Hayley Cardinal on the 1,600 relay team, which placed second in 4:23.53.

Bolgrien also placed third in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.22, and Girsova was seventh in the 200 in 27.82 seconds.
