The Lawrentian is the student newspaper on campus. It is kind of funny writing a blog about the student newspaper. But I’m going to do it anyway. Currently, we are in Bjorklunden doing some great bonding activities, and so this is the perfect time to talk about The Lawrentian.

So, the student newspaper on campus comes out every Friday. It covers mainly on-campus news, has a variety and features section, a sports section that highlights Athlete of the Week and Freshman Sportlight. The opinions and editorials section contains the staff editorial of the week and on the back is a photo poll where you can see Lawrentians answering the question of the week. It takes more than 100 collective hours for 15 people to put together an issue. The editorial board meets to review the past issue, discuss a new one and talk about logistics every week. The whole process, although lengthy, is very near and dear to all our hearts.

Now coming back to our Bjork trip – we are here to review applications and select the next editorial board that will take over spring term. We spent hours reading through applications, contacted people in Appleton through terrible internet service, had breakdowns, watched chick-flicks and did karaoke until three in the morning. Yes, our responsibilities entail all of these activities.

The Lawrentian is indeed one of the things we are proud of. Members on the board, writers, editors, photographers and everybody else involved get an enriched journalistic experience. Not only is it job, but an extra-curricular that is approached with passion and love. And, if you are interested, I am shamelessly posting a link here to publicize the newspaper. You can also like us on Facebook and find us on Instagram. After all, I need to do my job as a New Media Editor whenever I can.
