One of the great things about college is having the autonomy to choose what, where and when you eat, but it can be quite overwhelming at the same time. Figuring out a meal schedule and meal plan that works for you is a very important aspect of campus life.
We have three on campus options for dining, including Kaplan’s Café on the third floor of the Warch Student Center, the Corner Store located on the second floor, and the Andrew Commons, located on the first floor. The two types of meal plan currencies are culinary cash, which can be used in the Café and the Corner Store, and meal swipes, which are used in the Commons. Students will choose a meal plan consisting of a certain amount of swipes and a corresponding amount of culinary cash before each term. There is a recommended meal plan, 110 swipes/ $240 culinary cash, and then from there, students can figure out what works best for their personal needs.
The Café, located on the third floor of the Warch Student Center, offers a full selection of cold and hot coffee drinks, hot food made to order, as well as other snacks, sandwiches, and salads. They also offer a new food and coffee special each day. The Café takes culinary cash and offers more flexible hours for students who are in a rush or have classes scheduled through normal meal times. The Café also offers a lot of seating and is a social hub for students. Whether for meetings, meeting up with a friend for a meal, or doing homework, the Café is buzzing with activity throughout most of the day.
The Andrew Commons is a cafeteria style dining hall located on the bottom floor of the Warch Student Center. The Commons takes meal swipes and offers students breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, and then brunch and dinner on the weekends. One of the greatest perks of the Commons is the broad variety of options and the numerous options for students with dietary restrictions. Meal stations include a vegan station, a Grill, an International Cuisine station, a pasta bar, a salad bar, a miso bar, a soup bar, a sandwich bar, and a Mexican food bar. Included are areas for pre-composed salads, vegetables and fruits, drinks, and deserts. Eating in the Commons often offers healthier options, and also offers take out containers for students on the go! The menu is posted daily on Lawrence’s website.
Kate’s Corner Store is located on the second floor of the Warch Student Center, and also utilizes culinary cash. The Corner Store is a small scale convenience store, which allows students to obtain smaller groceries like milk, eggs and frozen food items, as well as drinks and snacks throughout the day. They also have some sandwiches, salads and other pre-composed meal options for students on the go. The corner store also offers a sack lunch program, where one meal swipe gets you two sandwiches, chips, a cookie, a drink, a veggie, and a fruit. The Lawrence apparel store is located inside the corner store as well, and stays up to date with the newest Lawrence gear.
