David Caprile scored his first career goal and that lifted the Lawrence University men’s soccer team to a 1-0 nonconference victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday.
Caprile’s rocket from 20 yards out beat MSOE goalkeeper Jon Cerny for the only goal of the match. Lawrence freshman goalkeeper Steven Solomon picked up his second career shutout and finished with five saves. Solomon got a big assist from defender Hashim Allah-Morad, who headed away a ball headed for the back of the net late in the contest.
The Vikings, who improved to 2-2 on the season, had a 12-9 edge in shots.
