MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Lawrence University men’s cross country team took second place on Saturday at the Midwest Conference Championships and placed three runners on the all-conference team.
The second-place finish for the Vikings was their highest placement since taking second in 1989.
Leading the charge for Lawrence was sophomore Sam Stevens, who placed third in 25:48.34. Stevens made the all-conference team for the second consecutive season.
Freshman Curran Carlile was seventh in 25:58.77 and was all-conference as well. Senior David Zane took 11th in 26:07.02 and earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career.
The Lawrence women placed seventh and were led by junior Emily Muhs. Muhs took seventh in 23:21.98 and picked up a spot on the all-conference team for the second consecutive season.
Grinnell won the men’s team championship and St. Norbert took the women’s title.
