DE PERE, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s soccer team is headed back to the Midwest Conference Tournament after securing a 2-1 victory over St. Norbert College Wednesday night at Schneider Stadium.
The Vikings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. David Caprile converted on a penalty kick in the 13th minute, and Jared Padway scored in the 30th minute off an assist from Joe Cullen.
Lawrence goalkeeper Steven Solomon saved a St. Norbert penalty kick in the second half. The Green Knights finally got on the board with less than five minutes to play.
Lawrence is now 6-2-0 in the league and 9-5-1 overall. The Vikings are in the four-team conference tournament for the second time in three years and the fifth time under head coach Blake Johnson.
Ripon College, Carroll University and Grinnell College also have qualified for the tournament. The seeds and the site of the tournament are yet to be determined.
