Three Lawrence University men’s soccer players have been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team in a vote by league coaches.
Senior forward Jared Padway (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) was a first-team selection, and senior forward Bennett Pang (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) and senior defender Colin Vize (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Hyde School) were both chosen for the second team.
Padway, named to the all-conference team for the first time, tied for the team lead with 15 points. Padway was second on the team with five goals and tied for the team lead with five assists.
Padway scored against Edgewood College, Knox College, Monmouth College, St. Norbert College and Ripon College. Padway had a career-high two assists against both Edgewood and Knox and posted a career-high four points in both matches.
Pang also was chosen for the all-conference team for the first time. Pang led the team with six goals and tied for the team lead with 15 points. He also picked up a trio of assists. Pang scored single goals in six different games and had a three-game stretch against Edgewood, Lake Forest College and North Central College where he picked up one goal in each match.
Vize was chosen for the all-conference team for the second consecutive season. Vize spearheaded a defense that allowed only 1.4 goals per game and posted four shutouts.
Lawrence compiled a 9-7-2 record on the season and finished 6-3-0 in Midwest Conference play. The Vikings earned a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament and played conference champion Ripon to a 1-1 tie before losing on penalty kicks in the conference tournament semifinals.
