Lawrence University freshman women’s tennis player Christina Schaupp turned in a perfect week and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Schaupp (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame) went 3-0 on the week in singles and doubles as Lawrence swept a trio of nonconference matches.
In Lawrence’s 5-4 victory over a very good Carthage College team, Schaupp clinched the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. She also teamed with Hannah Geoffrey (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In a 9-0 victory over Monmouth College, Schaupp beat Tessa Ginn 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and teamed with Geoffrey for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. In a 9-0 victory over Knox College, Schaupp beat Charlotte Garvin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Through play on Monday, Schaupp has a 5-0 record in singles and a 4-0 mark in doubles.
Lawrence returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Lake Forest College.
