The Lawrence University men’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Knox College in a Midwest Conference game on Sunday at Whiting Field West.

Senior Michael Kumbalek got his first career goal to give Lawrence (3-3-1, 1-0-1 MWC) a 1-0 lead 21:41. Kumbalek stuffed in a loose ball after a free kick from Dan O’Mahoney.

The score stayed that way until Jacob Polay scored on a direct kick for Knox (2-3-1, 0-1-1) at 52:37.

The teams then went scoreless for the final 38 minutes of regulation and another 20 minutes of overtime.

Lawrence had a 15-6 edge in shots.
