APPLETON, Wis. — Michael Deremo scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Lawrence University men’s soccer team to a 4-1 Midwest Conference win over Monmouth College on Saturday.

Deremo, a freshman forward, scored a pair of goals in the first half to stake the Vikings to a 2-0 edge at the break. Charlie Mann and Stephen Salansky both added goals in the second half to seal the win for Lawrence (4-4-1, 2-1-0 MWC).

Deremo scored off a pass from fellow freshman Jack Blodgett to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead at the 28:06 mark. Deremo got his second goal at 38:32 when he fielded a punt from goalkeeper Joe Krivit, beat several Monmouth defenders and scored.

Mann scored off an assist from Deremo at 56:41 to give Lawrence a 3-0 edge. Isaac Hernandez scored for the Scots (1-8-1, 0-3-0) at 73:26, but Salansky countered that with a goal off a penalty kick at 79:20 to finish the scoring.

Krivit stopped six shots to pick up the win for Lawrence. Matt Schmidt made two saves for the Scots.
