ADRIAN, Mich. — Second-ranked Adrian College rallied from three goals down to post a 5-3 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Lawrence University on Saturday at Arrington Ice Arena.
Adrian (18-1-4, 12-1-3 NCHA) tied it early in the third period and then scored the game-winner with less than four minutes left.
Lawrence (5-16-2, 4-11-1) used power-play opportnities to jump on top in the first period. Ryan Rumble scored a pair of power-play goals just 1:13 apart to give Lawrence a 2-0 edge.
Brett Sauve got a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct to put the Vikings on the power play. Rumble then scored off passes from Paul Zuke and Gustav Lindgren at the 9:16 mark. Rumble scored again at 10:29 with Zuke and Lindgren again picking up assists.
Lawrence made it 3-0 when Zuke scored unassisted at 14:44 of the first.
Adrian sliced the lead to 3-2 when Josh Cousineau just 30 seconds into the second period and Josh Ranalli added another goal at 15:43.
The Bulldogs struck again, this time just 1:07 into the third, when Ryan Lowe scored to tie it at 3-3. Duston Hebebrand then gave Adrian a 4-3 lead with a power-play goal at 16:10. Hebebrand added an empty-netter with 13 seconds left to finish the scoring.
Mattias Soderqvist made 29 saves for the Vikings, and Scott Shackell made 20 saves for Adrian.
