MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team dropped its season opener on Saturday with a 6-3 nonconference loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Lawrence picked up a victory in doubles and two more in singles. Freshman David Jumes, an Appleton native, got a pair of wins in his collegiate debut. Jumes teamed with Sam Wiener at No. 2 doubles for a 9-7 victory over Matt Slaughter and Reekah Delfanian. Jumes then defeated Slaughter 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
Jeremy Andereck was Lawrence’s other winner on the day as he rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 win over Zach Dam at No. 2 singles. Andereck won the super-tiebreaker 10-8 to win the match.
