APPLETON, Wis. — The St. Norbert College men’s soccer team scored with less than seven minutes left to pull out a 3-2 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Wednesday at the USA Youth Sports Complex.
St. Norbert’s Kevin Marx scored off Sean Sladky’s free kick at the 83:34 mark to break a 2-2 tie.
Lawrence (1-10-2, 1-5-1 MWC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Robert Desotelle got the Vikings on the board when he took a pass from Joe Cullen and scored for a 1-0 edge at the 37:34 mark. Cam Pieper, who picked up an assist on the first Lawrence goal, then scored at 42:47 to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
St. Norbert (8-2-2, 2-1-2) cut the lead in half on Robert Quinlan’s goal with just 53 seconds left in the first half. The Green Knights then tied it on Jim Blisk’s goal at the 64:56 mark.
Scott Faul made five saves for St. Norbert, and backup goalkeeper Aaron Sutton stopped 10 shots for Lawrence.
