APPLETON, Wis. — Mike Deremo scored a pair of first-half goals, and the Lawrence University men’s soccer team cruised to a 2-0 nonconference win over Lakeland College on Tuesday night on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Deremo got the Vikings on the board with a penalty kick just 6:27 into the match. After a handball just inside the penalty box, Deremo converted the penalty kick for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.
Deremo scored again a little more than 10 minutes later for a 2-0 edge. Working a beautiful give-and-go with John Tsingas, Deremo beat goalkeeper Logan Massey at the 16:46 mark.
Lawrence goalkeeper Joe Krivit made five saves to record the shutout. Massey stopped two shots for the Muskies.
