APPLETON, Wis. — Ryan Berkley’s goal in the 55th minute lifted the Lawrence University women’s soccer team to a 1-0 Midwest Conference victory over Cornell College on Sunday at Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Berkley took a pass from Rebecca Bernheimer a few yards outside the penalty box and hammered a ball past Cornell goalkeeper Tal Neilly at the 54:35 mark.
It was the team-best eighth goal of the season for Berkley.
Lawrence (8-7-0, 3-4-0 MWC) dominated the play with a 21-7 edge in shots, but Neilly made 10 saves to keep the Rams (2-13-0, 1-7-0) in the match. Lawrence goalkeeper Patsy Kealey made five saves to pick up her fourth shutout of the season.
