APPLETON, Wis. — Both Lawrence University soccer teams have again been honored for academic excellence by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Both squads won the Team Academic Award for having a cumulative grade point average higher than 3.0 during the 2014-15 academic year.
This marks the 12th consecutive year that both Lawrence teams have earned the award. This is the 15th time since 2000 that the Lawrence women have captured the award, and it is the 14th time for the Lawrence men during the same period. Lawrence was one of just two Midwest Conference schools to have both of its teams make the cut.
The Lawrence women, coached by Lisa Sammons, posted a 3.50 grade point average last year. The Lawrence men, led by long-time coach Blake Johnson, had a 3.27 GPA.
The Lawrence women had 13 players selected for the Academic All-Midwest Conference team in 2014-15, and the men had 11 players chosen.
