Bruning paces Vikings at Warren Bowlus Open

MENOMONIE, Wis. — Clare Bruning raced to a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters on Saturday to lead the Lawrence University track teams at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout.

Bruning led a contingent of five Lawrence runners in the top eight in the 5,000. Bruning took second in 19:43.88 and Hannah Kinzer was fourth in 20:11.09. She was followed by Margaret Huck in fifth, Liz Landes in sixth and Holly Doruska in eighth.

Lawrence’s 4×400 relay team of Sierra Polzin, Amy Hutchings Sammi Jo Nixon and Janey Degnan finished seventh in 4:34.68.

On the men’s side, Lawrence placed three runners in the top seven in the 5,000. Max Edwards grabbed fourth place in 15:50.74, and Josh Janusiak took fifth in 15:56.36. Ben Schaefer came home seventh in 16:23.37.

Tyler Herman raced to eighth in the 400 in 53.81, and Cam Davies was ninth in the mile in 4:31.97.
