Cardinal takes two titles to pace Vikings at Lawrence Double Dual

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University swimming star Hayley Cardinal took two titles on Saturday to pace the Vikings at the Lawrence Double Dual at Boldt Natatorium.

Cardinal won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.82 and grabbed first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.36. Cardinal also took second in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.83.

Cardinal also teamed with Paige Witter, Emily Flack and Lizzy Garcia to take second in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.06.

Witter picked up a pair of second-place finishes as she took the runner-up spot in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.84 and the 200 butterfly in 2:18.11. Sarah Schweickart finished behind Witter, taking third in the 200 butterfly in 2:29.66. She also took third in the 200 IM in 2:23.65. Emmi Zheng picked up a third place in the 200 breaststroke in 2:40.48.

Garcia grabbed third in the 50 freestyle in 26.53, and Flack picked up a third place in the 200 backstroke in 2:20.67.

The Lawrence women defeated Lake Forest College 146-117 and fell 183-78 to UW-Whitewater.

Lawrence’s top finisher on the men’s side was Christian Bell, who finished fourth in the 50 freestyle in 23.10 seconds. Whitewater defeated Lawrence 241-14, and Lake Forest downed the Vikings 244-31.
