Lawrence swimmers split at Illinois Tech

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Lawrence University swim teams split a dual meet at Illinois Tech on Saturday. The Lawrence women topped Illinois Tech 115-102, and the Scarlet Hawks topped the Lawrence men 157-40.

On the women’s side, the Vikings won seven events and were led by Paige Witter, who took a pair of firsts. Witter grabbed first in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:19.14 and won the 500 freestyle in 5:33.01.

Other individual winners for the Vikings were Emei Thompson (1,650 freestyle, 19:35.06), Emily Flack (200 freestyle, 2:06.99) and Hayley Cardinal (200 IM, 2:20.83). The 200 medley relay team of Witter, Flack, Cardinal and Lizzy Garcia took first in 1:55.52, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Garcia, Thompson, Danielle Millin and Eryn Blagg won in 1:47.22.

On the men’s side, Christian Bell won the 50 freestyle in 23.23 seconds.
