APPLETON, Wis. — The UW-Oshkosh baseball team rapped out 23 hits and went on to a 16-3 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Wednesday at Whiting Field.
Sam Schwenn went 4-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs for Oshkosh (10-13-1). Trent Whitcomb and Robbie Kleman both had hits and drove in three runs for the Titans.
Freshman Josh Koepplinger, making his Lawrence debut, went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run for the Vikings (7-13).
Oshkosh led 4-0 in the second before Lawrence scored three times in the bottom half of the innings. Koepplinger had a run-scoring double, and Brandon Klar picked up an RBI single to trim Oshkosh’s lead to 4-3.
The Titans answered with three unearned runs in the third and added two more runs in the fourth. Oshkosh broke the game wide open with seven runs in the sixth, two of which came on Kleman’s homer.
Matt Sabel threw two innings of one-hit relief to pick up the win. Kyle Duex was the starter and took the loss for Lawrence.
