APPLETON, Wis. — Kelsi Smith scored less than four minutes into overtime on Saturday to lift the Monmouth College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University.
Smith scored off a cross from Unique Manns at 93:37 to keep the Scots (6-3-0, 3-0-0 MWC) unbeaten in conference play. Lawrence (2-5-0, 1-3-0) had battled back to force the extra period.
Lawrence trailed 1-0 after Andrea Correa’s goal in the 35th minute, but the Vikings tied it just 2:28 into the second half. Anita Babbitt scored off assists from Casey Merkle and Caroline Borst to make the score 1-1.
Samantha Barranco made four saves for the Scots, who had a 25-8 edge in shots. Dani Glass stopped 12 shots for the Vikings.
