APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 Midwest Conference victory over Knox College on Saturday at Alexander Gymnasium.
Lawrence won 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.
Arianna Neumeyer paced Lawrence (7-12, 2-2 MWC) with 11 kills and she picked up an ace, a block and nine digs. Arianna Cohen added eight kills for the Vikings, and Claire Vinopal picked up seven.
Sydney Nelson led Lawrence with 19 assists, and Lauren Ray added 13. Cyra Bammer collected a match-high 35 digs for the Vikings.
The Vikings led 14-10 in the opening set and then went on a 6-2 run to pull away. In the second set, the score was tied 7-7 when Lawrence took command. The Vikings went on a 12-4 burst, capped by Rachel Barthel’s kill, to grab a 19-11 lead.
In the third set, Knox got off to a quick start and led 7-1. The Prairie Fire still led 16-11, but Lawrence was able to close to 19-17 on Bryttany Dove’s ace.
After Marissa Akers’ kill gave Knox a 21-18 edge, Lawrence scored five straight points, including two kills by Neumeyer, for a 23-21 lead. Knox got a kill from Madison Byrne, but Colleen Nowlan countered with a kill for Lawrence and Bammer’s ace finished the set and match.
