Kostreva’s big series earns him MWC Player of the Week honor

A big four-game series earned Lawrence University baseball standout Luke Kostreva the Midwest Conference Player of the Week honor.

Kostreva (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls), a senior first baseman/pitcher, put up some impressive numbers in a four-game set with Carroll University this past weekend. Kostreva hit .647 by going 11-for-17 with three home runs, three doubles and 10 runs batted in. He compiled a 1.353 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage for a staggering 2.067 OPS.

In the opening game of the series this past Saturday, Kostreva went 3-for-5 with a double, a three-run homer and four RBIs. He followed that up in the nightcap of that doubleheader by going 4-for-5 with a double, a two-run homer and two RBIs.

In the opening game of the doubleheader on Sunday, Kostreva went 1-for-3 in Lawrence’s 10-6 victory. He capped the four-game series by going 3-for-4 with a two-run double, a two-run homer and four RBIs. Kostreva’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning rallied the Vikings to a 7-6 victory.

Kostreva is now batting .422 on the season with five doubles, four homers and 15 RBIs.

The Vikings return to action on Thursday when they travel to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
