CLERMONT, Fla. — The Elmhurst College softball team made the most of its opportunities on Friday to collect a 5-1 nonconference win over Lawrence University.
Elmhurst (10-3) needed only six hits to score five times as Ele Walter had two hits and Bella Masini drove in a pair of runs.
Tiffany Potthast scattered seven hits, struck out one and walked four in going the distance to earn the win. Liz Barthels went the distance for the Vikings (7-4) and allowed just three earned runs while walking one.
Lawrence tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third when Marisa Thackston singled to score Sam Belletini. The Bluejays took the lead right back in the bottom half of the inning on Masini’s two-run single.
Elmhurst added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to help seal the victory.
