BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit College baseball team swept a Midwest Conference doubleheader by the scores of 13-3 and 11-1 Tuesday at Pohlman Field.
In the opener, Ryan Schmitz, Matt Bartz and Drew Oswald had three hits apiece to pace Beloit’s 15-hit attack. Andrew Edwards went the distance to pick up the win. He allowed four hits, struck out six and walked two.
Beloit (20-9, 8-4 MWC) led 4-3 going to the fourth inning and then broke the game open by scoring three times in the fourth, two more times in the fifth and three times in the sixth.
A.J. Nathan had a pair of hits for Lawrence (6-21, 2-6).
In the nightcap, the Bucs managed only eight hits but parlayed that into 11 runs.
Oswald picked up two hits and was the only Beloit player with more than one hit. Nathan and Phil Wisniewski had two hits apiece for the Vikings.
Darren Pilcher went five innings and picked up the win for Beloit, which scored three times in the first and pulled away with four more runs in the third.
