Lawrence men 12th, women 22nd at Griak Invitational

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — Sam Stevens raced to 17th place to pace the Lawrence University cross country teams on Saturday at the massive Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.

Stevens covered the 8,000 meters at Les Bolstad Golf Course in 26:13.7. Led by Stevens, the Vikings finished 12th in the team standings to pace all Midwest Conference schools at the event. Lawrence had 311 points, and the next MWC team was defending conference champion Grinnell, which was 15th with 372 points.

Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were: Curran Carlile (48th), Kyle Dockery (74th), Pat Mangan (78th) and Jamie Brisbois (94th).

The Lawrence women placed 22nd with 685 points and were led by senior standout Emily Muhs. She placed 46th and covered the 6,000-meter course in 24:17.9. Also scoring for the Vikings were: Maggie Mahaffa (144th), Anna Ratliff (156th), Rosie Graber (157th) and Cathy Kaye (182nd).
