The Lawrence University men’s soccer team scored a goal in the second overtime to record a 2-1 Midwest Conference victory over Grinnell College on Saturday at Whiting Field West.

Charlie Mann not only scored his first goal of the season for the Vikings, but it came on his first shot of the season. Mann headed a shot past Grinnell goalkeeper Ben Schemper on Cameron Pieper’s corner kick at 103:20.

Lawrence had taken a 1-0 lead on Karl Mayer’s goal in the 73rd minute, but Grinnell got a goal from Joseph Brown with just 36 seconds left in regulation to tie it.

Steve Solomon made seven saves to pick up the win for the Vikings, who enjoyed a 16-8 edge in shots.
