APPLETON, Wis. — The Luther College men’s soccer team scored two goals in a span of 7:28 to pull out a 2-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Friday at Whiting Field West.
Lawrence (0-1-0) led 1-0 on a spectacular goal from senior Cameron Pieper at the 14:38 mark. Lewis Berger’s free kick traveled about 60 yards in the air, and Pieper volleyed it into the net for the first Vikings’ goal of the season.
That lead held up until Clay Walker scored off an assist from Nigel Nielsen at the 61:29 mark. Lucas Beato then scored off a corner kick from Ben Reasoner at the 68:57 mark to give the Norse (1-0-0) the lead for good.
Joe Krivit made 12 saves for Lawrence, and Tommy Breen picked up the win despite not having to make a save in his 45 minutes of action in the second half.
