Lawrence, Edgewood play to scoreless tie

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 overtime tie with Edgewood College on Wednesday in a nonconference match at Whiting Field West.

The game was called after the first 10-minute overtime due to darkness.

Lawrence (0-4-1) owned a 24-10 edge in shots, including a 14-10 advantage in shots on goal. Joe Krivit made 10 saves for Lawrence, and Matt Dammen stopped 14 shots for the Eagles (2-3-1).

Both teams had some great chances in regulation, and Edgewood nearly won it on a scramble in front of the Lawrence goal before a Vikings defender headed the ball away from the goal line.

The Vikings had the better of it in the overtime, piling up five shots in 10 minutes. Max Loebel’s shot careened off the post, and Joe Cullen nearly got the next shot past Dammen. Mike Deremo also had a shot that missed just wide in the final minutes of the overtime.

Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it opens Midwest Conference play at Carroll University.
